The Central Illinois Hosta Society (CIHS) is an educational organization that was formed in 1989
and has a current membership of approximately 200 members in the Peoria, Illinois area. Our society conducts monthly meetings from March through August followed by a season-ending banquet in September. We have an early spring potluck dinner, and the gatherings during the warmer months are held at members' gardens with programs covering various educational topics conducted by members and guest speakers. As fund raisers, CIHS hosts garden walks open to the public, plant sales, plant auctions, and an annual bus trip featuring arboretums, nurseries, and/or private gardens outside the Peoria area.
Membership dues are $15 per couple (or individual) per calendar year. Membership includes eight informative newsletters (that arrive from March through October) and reduced prices at several local hosta retailers. If members choose to receive the Newsletter electronically, rather than through the mail, the yearly membership dues are reduced to $10. Yearly membership dues should be sent to - CIHS, PO Box 3098, Peoria, IL 61612-3098.
