2025 CIHS Calendar:

June 14 Saturday - Biennial CIHS Garden Walk

Yes - it only is held every other year! This is the year! The private gardens on the walk are also the same gardens AHS/MRHS Convention attendees will be visiting the following weekend. This is your chance to see them as well!

Note: Illinois Central College Land Laboratory (Arboretum & Gardens) are public gardens open every day for viewing. It includes an American Hosta Society National Display Garden right in our Peoria own area with over 1200 labeled hostas.

June 17 Tuesday Garden Meeting

Location: Karis Lawson's Garden 5770 Broadway Road, Groveland, Illinois. Bring a lawn chair.

6:00pm Registration/Garden Viewing

6:30pm Meeting begins

'A Shady Haven': A very young garden by comparison to most of our members. This garden started 8 years ago, and I've kept adding to it every year... because who doesn't love more hostas and less mowing?! The garden is a space that’s grown alongside my love for natural textures and quiet beauty. Tucked beneath a canopy of deeply aged oak trees, the garden enjoys generous shade, creating a calm, woodland feel. My passion for flagstone shows through in the recent hardscaping throughout, where winding paths take you to explore new areas of serenity. It’s a garden shaped by patience, passion, plenty of peaceful afternoons, and I look forward to sharing it with you!

Directions: From Peoria. Take 74 East to Bloomington. Take 155 South to Lincoln exit 101. Go about 3 miles and take Exit 28 Broadway Rd. In about 2.2 miles turn left onto Kruse Court. You will see a sign for the Woodline Wild Flower Trail on your left but you are on the right road. Karis’s house is at the end of Kruse. (Google map).

THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO FREE EVENTS - If you are not registered to attend all of the events for the convention, you can still come and shop for FREE at the Vendors Marketplace (garden vendors from across the USA including live hostas and companion plants & garden decor), attend the LIVE Plant Auction to buy special hostas/plants and the see the Hosta Leaf Show (view hosta leaves in many categories and floral designs with hostas that were entered for competition).

June 28 Saturday Annual CIHS Van Trip - Rockford IL Area, Private Gardens and Klehm Arboretum

7:00AM - Depart from ICC Horticulture Land Laboratory Parking Lot

8:30PM - Return to East Peoria

$55 per Person if riding in van

$30 per Person if driving in private vehicles
