2026 American Hosta Society Convention  Dublin, Ohio 

June 16, 2026 - Monthly Meeting  6:30 PM. Bring a Lawn Chair. Arrive early to view the garden before the program.

Dan and Connie's Description of their Garden:

The only thing constant in life is change. And that is true in the garden as well. Nothing stays the same. One year you see a hosta and exclaim, “Oh Wow.” The next year you say, “Where did it go?”  Weather and wildlife make sure our gardens do not remain constant.

     Three summers ago, in a few minutes half of our front yard changed from deep shade to full sun thanks to a windstorm that wiped out five large trees. Hostas were quickly getting burned due to sun exposure, so we put up several patio umbrellas. Neighbors stopped by wondering what time happy hour started.

     We and our yard have adapted. Now instead of shopping for hostas and shade companion plants, we seek out conifers and sun loving plants. It is a fresh looklike when you paint a room a different color or get new furniture. We are excited to see the new yard mature.

July 21, 2026 - Monthly Meeting - 6:30 PM

Program: Fall Cleanup, Keeping Beneficial Insects in Mind

Speaker: May Bach, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell County

August 8, 2026 - CIHS Van Trip to the Chicago Botanical Garden

Cost: $55 per person - (Admission to the Chicago Botanical Garden not included)

You are encouraged to become a member of Luthy Botanical Garden. Your membership there will allow you to enter this and many other botanical gardens throughout the country for one year!

Register before July 1st to have your name in a drawing for a free membership to Luthy Botanical Garden! 

Location: Meet at ICC East Peoria Campus - Horticulture Building Land Laboratory Parking Lot G

Leave your car at ICC for the day. 

Time: Vans (15 passenger) leave promptly at 7:00 AM   Return approx 7:00 - 8:00 PM

Bring a sack lunch or plan to eat the the cafe at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. 

We plan to stop at Woldhuis Farms Sunrise Greenhouse in Grant Park IL on our way home.
